WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL)?

Intense pulsed light treatments are ideal for individuals with light to medium complexions looking to improve:

IPL (PHOTOFACIAL) LUMECCA

What is the LUMECCA IPL?

Lumecca IPL by InMode is an advanced intense pulsed light treatment designed to dramatically improve skin clarity and tone. As one of the most powerful IPL technologies available, Lumecca delivers high peak power to effectively target pigmentation, sun damage, vascular lesions, and redness. This innovative system works by gently penetrating the skin with controlled light energy, stimulating collagen production while breaking down unwanted pigment for a brighter, more even complexion. With fast treatments and noticeable results in fewer sessions, Lumecca IPL offers a safe, non-invasive solution for radiant, rejuvenated skin.

IS INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL) SAME AS LASER?

It is important to note that IPL is not a laser resurfacing treatment. While the two devices operate on similar mechanisms of delivering high-intensity light energy onto specific target cells within the skin, lasers operate using a single wavelength. IPL treatments deliver multiple wavelengths, which allow them to target various conditions. They are also non-ablative, meaning that they do not damage the surface of the skin, whereas some laser treatments can be ablative.

HOW Does IPL WORK?

An IPL treatment uses the power of broadband light to improve the appearance of sun spots, rosacea, age spots, and skin texture. The treatment can also be used for hair removal, photo rejuvenation, as well as to alleviate dermatologic diseases like acne. It is a popular treatment because it’s effective, affordable, and non-invasive.

What Do I EXPECT DURING THE IPL Procedure?

A handheld device is passed across the skin delivering pulses of broad spectrum light to the deep layers of the skin. Since the handheld device employs a light to influence the skin on a molecular level, there is no need for any incisions or injections. You can think of it like a blinking flashlight, sending out scattered wavelengths of light, making an IPL very targeted for specific problem areas or skin concerns.  For optimal results 2-3 treatment sessions are typically recommended, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart.

…Because of the multiple wavelengths used during an IPL treatment, it can be adjusted for a spectrum of skin tones. However, fair skin that is relatively elastic and “freckle-prone” shows the greatest improvement.

IS IPL TREATMENT PAINFUL?

Intense pulsed light treatments are not entirely pain-free, although the level of discomfort depends upon your individual threshold for pain.
