Botox Injection For Hyperhidrosis

Botox Injection For Hyperhidrosis

How is the procedure?

Firstly Botox injections should be done by an experienced practitioner. Injections take one hour during an office visit. The doctor injects Botox below the surface of the skin using a fine needle. You’ll receive several injections with a maximum dose of 100 units in each armpit. It is better to apply something to prevent pain, like ice or a numbing agent.

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating refers to any abnormal sweating, such as sweating when it’s not hot. With excessive sweating you may soak through your clothing or drip sweat. Regular antiperspirants don’t work well for those with this condition.

How does Botox work for hyperhidrosis?

Botox injection is a new option for hyperhidrosis. You may be a good candidate for Botox if your sweating fails to treat with prescription antiperspirants.

Botox works by blocking the nerves responsible for activating the sweat glands. Normally, nervous system activates sweat glands when body temperature rises. This is how your body automatically cools itself. In hyperhidrosis condition, however, the sweat glands are overactive.

However by Botox injections the overactive nerves are paralyzed which leads to less sweating.

WHAT OUR CLIENT SAY

Truly 5 star cosmetic clinic. Lovely and extremely professional team and management, they make you feel comfortable. I have had Botox treatment , microdermabrasion and facial with lovely Behnaz. She is physician back home , always understands my concerns and pampers me during my treatment. I’m so happy and now her regular customer. I highly recommend this place with its wonderful atmosphere

What should I do before the procedure?

Botox injections is a simple and quick procedure done in North York Cosmetic Clinic. It’s better avoid shaving the armpits for two days before treatment. If you take blood thinners, your doctor may ask you to stop for a few days prior to your injections. Tell us about any medications you’re taking and don’t stop taking any medications unless your doctor allows you to.

What to expect after treatment

There is no down time after Botox injection and you can return to your normal activities immediately after treatment. It takes two to seven days to stop sweating in the treated area, however, it takes two weeks for total dryness.

The effects of Botox are not permanent, which means you’ll need more injections in the future. For underarm, dryness can last four to fourteen months. Results for the hands and feet may last less and you may need to repeat your treatment sooner.

Two weeks after your treatment, we will ask you to come back to our clinic for a follow-up appointment. At this appointment you may need any “touch ups” of missed spots.
